3. Invitation

Is the world coming to an end?

Surely, the reality of this event must make the experiences and impact of Covid-19 and the devastation of Mariupol in the Ukraine war a valuable warning to wake up to its impending reality. However, it in the world made void by fire that humanity find peace and eternal life, hope in the midst of trouble.

L3 Persecution Gathering and Deliverance is the final episode to share the truth that  the end of the world is a reality. To be ignorant of it and being made aware of it and to reject this truth will decide your eternal destiny. God, the source of life and love reaches out to everyone whom He makes in His image to know the truth through the revelation of the gospel of Christ*. The explanation is shared in L1*. (Note: Gospel of Christ*- The truth is found in Jesus Christ and a search for the truth is to get to know Jesus more as to who He is and also to study the prophecies of the Bible that reveal what times we are living in so that we can prepare ourselves for the Second Coming of Jesus Christ to receive eternal life.

The evidence of truth is to convince and convict any hearer and seeker of the reality that the subject is the absolute truth. This is the beginning in the growth of your knowledge and discernment of truth as you are enabled to see through the spiritual light of Jesus (Ps 36:9.) )

3.02 Knowing the Time by Signs of the Time

We are living in uncertain times. Everyone was made aware of this since the February 2020 Covid -19 ( C-19)  pandemic and the fear of death.  People worry for themselves and their loved ones if they are not able to know about the message contained in the crisis.  God gives us prophetic warnings ( L1) not to scare us but to prepare us. He does not leave us in the dark. God desire us to put full trust in His words. God loves His children. As a Father, He is ever faithful, merciful and longsuffering. If His warning is not heeded He sends another message which should then be taken with urgency. The Crisis in February 2022 Ukraine war may be localized but the impact is global affecting food and fuel cost resulting in the trade sanction enforced on Russia.  The providential message is shared in D34. An economic disaster might be on the way. Our thoughts are flooded with unanswered questions. Will the economy crash? Will we be able to feed our family or find a place to live? What’s next? We live in a period when the entirety of prophecy reveals God’s plans. Revelation shows us the perilous times ahead, but also the safest place where the faithful can flee.

The final sign is when the Gospel is preached to the end of the world and then Jesus will come -Matt 24:14 Then in Revelation 14:6-12 is  the call to come out of Babylon, the seat of the harlot that  was proclaimed since 1844.

There are limits even to the forbearance of God. The boundary of his long-suffering may be reached, and then He will surely punish. And when he does take up the case of the presumptuous sinner, he will not cease till he has made a full end.  {RH, August 14, 1900 par. 1} A pandemic, and now a war adds to the destruction and distress of our world. When we think that things are going to get better, they get worse, and it seems that there is no hope. But in the midst of trouble, there is a refuge for the faithful. Revelation shows us the perilous times ahead, but also the safest place where the faithful can flee.

3.02.1 The Time of Trouble

The Great controversy we are all engaged in must come to an end. The time of trouble discussed in D 34 involves preparation for the final battle of Armageddon .This is the prophetic end of the world. The time-of- trouble- that- ever- was (Dan 12:1) describes persecution of those gathered on the Lord’s camp at the end-time of this earth’s history when Satan’s wrath increases and reaches its culmination and filled the cup of iniquity for Jesus to mete out punishment in Justice. “The power attending the last warning has enraged the wicked; their anger is kindled against all who have received the message, and Satan will excite to still greater intensity the spirit of hatred and persecution.”  {GC 614.3} .

The period of probation, while we are alive, is granted to all to prepare for that time. the life time everyone is given. We are to  exercise the faith in God’s promises and reach the condition to be able to stand the last seven plagues prior to the second coming of Jesus to take us to heaven for a thousand years.

“It is in this life that we are to separate sin from us, through faith in the atoning blood of Christ. Our precious Saviour invites us to join ourselves to Him, to unite our weakness to His strength, our ignorance to His wisdom, our unworthiness to His merits. God's providence is the school in which we are to learn the meekness and lowliness of Jesus. The Lord is ever setting before us, not the way we would choose, which seems easier and pleasanter to us, but the true aims of life. It rests with us to co-operate with the agencies which Heaven employs in the work of conforming our characters to the divine model. None can neglect or defer this work but at the most fearful peril to their souls.”  {GC 623.2} 

Fearful sights of a supernatural character will soon be revealed in the heavens, in token of the power of miracle-working demons. The spirits of devils will go forth to the kings of the earth and to the whole world, to fasten them in deception, and urge them on to unite with Satan in his last struggle against the government of heaven. By these agencies, rulers and subjects will be alike deceived. Persons will arise pretending to be Christ Himself, and claiming the title and worship which belong to the world's Redeemer. They will perform wonderful miracles of healing and will profess to have revelations from heaven contradicting the testimony of the Scriptures.  {GC 624.1} 

As the crowning act in the great drama of deception, Satan himself will personate Christ. The church has long professed to look to the Saviour's advent as the consummation of her hopes. Now the great deceiver will make it appear that Christ has come. In different parts of the earth, Satan will manifest himself among men as a majestic being of dazzling brightness, resembling the description of the Son of God given by John in the Revelation. Revelation 1:13-15. The glory that surrounds him is unsurpassed by anything that mortal eyes have yet beheld. The shout of triumph rings out upon the air: "Christ has come! Christ has come!" The people prostrate themselves in adoration before him, while he lifts up his hands and pronounces a blessing upon them, as Christ blessed His disciples when He was upon the earth. His voice is soft and subdued, yet full of melody. In gentle, compassionate tones he presents some of the same gracious, heavenly truths which the Saviour uttered; he heals the diseases of the people, and then, in his assumed character of Christ, he claims to have changed the Sabbath to Sunday, and commands all to hallow the day which he has blessed. He declares that those who persist in keeping holy the seventh day are blaspheming his name by refusing to listen to his angels sent to them with light and truth. This is the strong, almost overmastering delusion. ..{GC 624.2} 

But the people of God will not be misled. The teachings of this false christ are not in accordance with the Scriptures. His blessing is pronounced upon the worshipers of the beast and his image, the very class upon whom the Bible declares that God's unmingled wrath shall be poured out.  {GC 625.1} 

When Christ ceases His intercession in the sanctuary, the unmingled wrath threatened against those who worship the beast and his image and receive his mark (Revelation 14:9, 10), will be poured out. 3.02.1.1 The Gathering

We are entering important times, and those who have a knowledge of the truth are lain under most weighty responsibility to impart it to others. Truth is mighty, and will prevail. Those who love and support the word of God will more and more decidedly range themselves on the Lord's side, and brethren will stand heart to heart in defense of the truth. Those who support error will more and more decidedly gather themselves against the holy and pure principles plainly revealed in the word of God. God has given to every one his work, and capability with which to do it. Our talents are not be laid away to rust from inaction. No one is to live to himself. O, how many there are today who profess godliness, who advocate the truth, but who do not make a practical application of it to their own lives! The principles of the gospel should have a controlling power over us, that we may have the mind that was in Christ, and be pure as he was pure. We know that unless our righteousness shall exceed that of the Pharisees, we shall utterly fail of eternal life. It is not enough to tithe mint and anise and cummin; we must also remember the weightier matters of the law,--mercy and the love of God. Jesus must abide in the soul, if we would work the works that are acceptable to Heaven.  {RH, June 24, 1890 par. 15}

The call must be made, Who will be on the Lord's side? let him come over with the loyal and the true. The law of God, which binds us to render firm and undivided obedience to our Maker, tolerates no easy fellowship with the careless, the lax, unconverted, who demonstrate that the truth has no power upon the heart and character, whose influence is not to gather with Christ, but to separate from him. Our churches must be purified from impiety, from many things that have accumulated to hinder the advancement of the work. "By their fruits," said Christ, "ye shall know them."  {RH, November 29, 1898 par. 11} 

 "We are laborers together with God: ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building." God has chosen to bring to perfection nothing in the plan of salvation without the co-operation of the human with the divine. He could save the human race only through his Son, who combined humanity with divinity. In His divine plan of salvation, God gave his only begotten Son that every voice may be silent upon the point that it is not possible for humanity to keep the law of God. In Christ, divinity and humanity bore every test of temptation; in him, humanity is exalted and honored. In Christ, man is privileged to become a partaker of the divine nature.  {RH, November 29, 1898 par. 12} 

The part we are called to act in the work may be small and inferior; but that part is indispensable to the victory we are to gain over the world, the flesh, and the devil, through the intercession of Christ as our Advocate with the Father. The fragrant incense of the merits of Christ gives to the believing he enemy of good blinded the minds of men, so that they looked upon God with fear; they thought of Him as severe and unforgiving. Satan led men to conceive of God as a being whose chief attribute is stern justice,--one who is a severe judge, a harsh, exacting creditor. He pictured the Creator as a being who is watching with jealous eye to discern the errors and mistakes of men, that He may visit judgments upon them. It was to remove this dark shadow, by revealing to the world the infinite love of God, that Jesus came to live among men.  {SC 10.3}  (Thus it is that the co-operation of divine energy and merit with man makes him a complete overcomer in every sense, and elevates humanity in the scale of moral value with God.  {RH, November 29, 1898 par. 13}) 

 Ellen White sees the necessity every day and every hour of exercising living faith:. "the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." There is a wonderful power in faith. It brings eternal things to view, and lays hold of the arm of infinite power. If you have been educating your soul to gather up the dark chapters in your experience, turn over a new leaf and have a new, bright, cheerful experience; put your will wholly on the Lord's side. We must exercise living faith if we would war successfully against the temptations of the enemy.  {ST, March 18, 1889 par. 6}

3.02.1.1.1The Counterfeit Gathering

The evil angels in Rev 16:12 are gathering the kings of the earth and of the whole world for the final battle against the government of God. These three fallen angels are actually the counterpart of the three angels’ messages of Rev 14. These three counterfeit angels gather people from every nation on Satan’s side  desirous of staying on this earth under the rule of the prince of darkness and oppression

The discussion of this counterfeit gathering underlies the main theme of L3 touching on the truth that  the end of the world is a reality. It will be  discussed in par 3.1 

3.02.1.2 Persecution

The great controversy  is centered on Satan, the enemy of good binding the minds of men  so that they look upon God with fear; they thought of Him as severe and unforgiving. Satan led men to conceive of God as a being whose chief attribute is stern justice,--one who is a severe judge, a harsh, exacting creditor. He pictured the Creator as a being who is watching with jealous eye to discern the errors and mistakes of men, that He may visit judgments upon them. It was to remove this dark shadow, by revealing to the world the infinite love of God, that Jesus came to live among men.  {SC 10.3}

Persecution is meted out by Satan through his evil agents to those who are gathered in God’s remnant church keeping the law of God. There is the prospect before us, of waging a continuous war, at the risk of imprisonment, of losing property and even life itself, to defend the law of God, which is being made void by the laws of men. This Bible text will be quoted to us, "Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. . . . The powers that be are ordained of God."  {RH, January 1, 1889 par. 4}

Those who shall seek to compel men to observe an institution of the papacy, and trample upon God's authority, are doing a work similar to that of the scribes, Pharisees, and Sadducees in the days of the apostles. When the laws of earthly rulers are brought into opposition to the laws of the Supreme Ruler of the universe, then those who are God's loyal subjects will be true to him.  {RH, January 1, 1889 par. 7}

The God of heaven the mighty Ruler of the universe, had to show the men warring against His work, that there is a ruler above man, whose authority must be respected. The Lord sent his angel by night to open the prison doors; and he brought forth these men whom God had commissioned to do his work. Thus we see that these rulers were not in harmony with God's word. Had they taken him into their counsel, they would not have commanded the disciples to do contrary to his will. The rulers said, "Speak not at all, nor teach in the name of Jesus;" but the heavenly messenger sent by God, said, "Go, stand and speak in the temple to the people all the words of this life."  {RH, January 1, 1889 par. 6}

3.02.1.2.1The Curse of Disobedience, Murder and Great Flood

The first curse was pronounced upon the posterity of Adam and upon the earth, because of disobedience. The second curse came upon the ground after Cain slew his brother Abel. The third most dreadful curse from God, came upon the earth at the Flood (4SG 121).  {1BC 1085.6} 

By this history the Lord would teach everybody that His Word is to be implicitly obeyed. Cain and Abel represent two classes—the wicked and the righteous, those who follow their own way and those who conscientiously keep the way of the Lord to do justice and judgment. . . . {CTr 35.5}

Abel did not try to force Cain to obey God’s command. It was Cain, inspired by Satan and filled with wrath, who used force. Furious because he could not compel Abel to disobey God and because God had accepted Abel’s offering and refused his, which did not recognize the Saviour, Cain killed his brother. {CTr 35.6}

The two parties represented by Cain and Abel will exist till the close of this earth’s history. The well-doer, the obedient, does not war against the transgressor of God’s holy law. But those who do not respect the law of God oppress and persecute other people. They follow their leader, who is an accuser of God and of those who are made perfect through obedience. . . . The spirit that leads people to accuse, condemn, imprison, and put to death other people has waxed strong in our world. It is this spirit that always works in the children of disobedience.—Manuscript 136, 1899. {CTr 35.7}

The history of Cain and Abel will be repeated. Cain insisted on carrying out his own plans in his offering to the Lord. Abel was steadfast in carrying out the directions of the Lord. He would not be converted in Cain’s way. Although the offering of Cain was a very acceptable one, that which made the offering required at all—the blood of the slain lamb—was left out. There could be no harmony between the two brothers, and contention must come. Abel could not concede to Cain without being guilty of disobedience to the special commands of God. . . . {CTr 36.4}

The Lord preferred the offering of Abel because it was correct. His offering was of value because it prefigured the redemption plan of God in the costly offering of His only begotten Son as the hope and salvation of the fallen race. {CTr 36.5}

3.02.1.2.2 The Beginnings of Death

 While Abel justifies the plan of God, Cain becomes enraged, and his anger increases and burns against Abel until in his rage he slays him. God inquires of Cain for his brother, and Cain utters a guilty falsehood: "I know not: am I my brother's keeper?" God informs Cain that He knew in regard to his sin--that He was acquainted with his every act, and even the thoughts of his heart, and says to him, "Thy brother's blood crieth unto me from the ground. And now art thou cursed from the earth, which hath opened her mouth to receive thy brother's blood from thy hand; when thou tillest the ground, it shall not henceforth yield unto thee her strength; a fugitive and a vagabond shalt thou be in the earth." {SR 54.1}  

The curse upon the ground at first had been felt but lightly; but now a double curse rested upon it. Cain and Abel represent the two classes, the righteous and the wicked, the believers and unbelievers, which should exist from the fall of man to the second coming of Christ. Cain's slaying his brother Abel represents the wicked who will be envious of the righteous and will hate them because they are better than themselves. They will be jealous of the righteous and will persecute and put them to death because their right-doing condemns their sinful course. {SR 54.2}  

3.02.1.2.3 Exhibit of Persecution

All this was as Satan would have it. This was what for ages he had been working to secure. His policy is deception from first to last, and his steadfast purpose is to bring woe and wretchedness upon men, to deface and defile the workmanship of God, to mar the divine purposes of benevolence and love, and thus cause grief in heaven. Then by his deceptive arts he blinds the minds of men, and leads them to throw back the blame of his work upon God, as if all this misery were the result of the Creator's plan. In like manner, when those who have been degraded and brutalized through his cruel power achieve their freedom, he urges them on to excesses and atrocities. Then this picture of unbridled license is pointed out by tyrants and oppressors as an illustration of the results of liberty.  {GC 284.2}

"When Satan wrought through the Roman Church to lead men away from obedience, his agency was concealed, and his work was so disguised that the degradation and misery which resulted were not seen to be the fruit of transgression. And his power was so far counteracted by the working of the Spirit of God that his purposes were prevented from reaching their full fruition. The people did not trace the effect to its cause and discover the source of their miseries. But in the Revolution the law of God was openly set aside by the National Council. And in the Reign of Terror which followed, the working of cause and effect could be seen by all.  {GC 285.4}  )

When France publicly rejected God and set aside the Bible, wicked men and spirits of darkness exulted in their attainment of the object so long desired--a kingdom free from the restraints of the law of God. Because sentence against an evil work was not speedily executed, therefore the heart of the sons of men was "fully set in them to do evil." Ecclesiastes 8:11. But the transgression of a just and righteous law must inevitably result in misery and ruin. Though not visited at once with judgments, the wickedness of men was nevertheless surely working out their doom. Centuries of apostasy and crime had been treasuring up wrath against the day of retribution; and when their iniquity was full, the despisers of God learned too late that it is a fearful thing to have worn out the divine patience. The restraining Spirit of God, which imposes a check upon the cruel power of Satan, was in a great measure removed, and he whose only delight is the wretchedness of men was permitted to work his will. Those who had chosen the service of rebellion were left to reap its fruits until the land was filled with crimes too horrible for pen to trace. From devastated provinces and ruined cities a terrible cry was heard--a cry of bitterest anguish. France was shaken as if by an earthquake. Religion, law, social order, the family, the state, and the church--all were smitten down by the impious hand that had been lifted against the law of God. Truly spoke the wise man: "The wicked shall fall by his own wickedness." "Though a sinner do evil a hundred times, and his days be prolonged, yet surely I know that it shall be well with them that fear God, which fear before Him: but it shall not be well with the wicked." Proverbs 11:5; Ecclesiastes 8:12, 13. "They hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the Lord;" "therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices." Proverbs 1:29, 31.  {GC 286.1} 

3.02.1.2.3.1 The French Revolution – Historic Epic of Satanic Persecution

The war against the Bible, carried forward for so many centuries in France, culminated in the scenes of the Revolution. That terrible outbreaking was but the legitimate result of Rome's suppression of the Scriptures. It presented the most striking illustration which the world has ever witnessed of the working out of the papal policy-- an illustration of the results to which for more than a thousand years the teaching of the Roman Church had been tending.  {GC 265.2} 

The suppression of the Scriptures during the period of papal supremacy was foretold by the prophets; and the Revelator (Rev 11:2-11) points also to the terrible results that were to accrue especially to France from the domination of the "man of sin."  {GC 266.1} (The 1260 years of papal supremacy began in A.D. 538, and would therefore terminate in 1798. At that time a French army entered Rome and made the pope a prisoner, and he died in exile. Though a new pope was soon afterward elected, the papal hierarchy has never since been able to wield the power which it before possessed.  {GC 266.3})

3.02.1.2.3.1.1 Lessons in France Rejection of God’s Law

When the people found Romanism to be a deception, and Satan could not through this agency lead them to transgression of God's law, he urged themto regard all religion as a cheat,and the Bible as a fable; and, casting aside the divine statutes, they gave themselves up to unbridled iniquity.  {GC 285.1}   

The fatal error which wrought such woe for the inhabitants of France was the ignoring of this one great truth: that true freedom lies within the proscriptions of the law of God. "O that thou hadst hearkened to My commandments! then had thy peace been as a river, and thy righteousness as the waves of the sea." "There is no peace, saith the Lord, unto the wicked." "But whoso hearkeneth unto Me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil." Isaiah 48:18, 22; Proverbs 1:33.  {GC 285.2} 

Atheists, infidels, and apostates oppose and denounce God's law; but the results of their influence prove that ‘the well-being of man is bound up with his obedience of the divine statutes’*. Those who will not read the lesson from the book of God are bidden to read it in the history of nations.  {GC 285.3} 

(Note: “the well-being of man is bound up with his obedience of the divine statutes’*:  Men cannot with impunity trample upon the word of God. The meaning of this fearful denunciation is set forth in the closing chapter of the Revelation: "I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: and if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book." Revelation 22:18, 19.  {GC 268.1} (The written word, the law of God, will measure the character of every man and condemn all whom this unerring test shall declare wanting.  {GC 268.2} )

In many of the nations of Europe the powers that ruled in church and state had for centuries been controlled by Satan through the medium of the papacy. But here is brought to view a new manifestation of satanic power.  {GC 268.3} 

It had been Rome's policy, under a profession of reverence for the Bible, to keep it locked up in an unknown tongue and hidden away from the people. Under her rule the witnesses prophesied "clothed in sackcloth." But another power --the beast from the bottomless pit--was to arise to make open, avowed war upon the word of God.  {GC 269.1}

Rev 11:8 received a most exact and striking fulfillment in the history of France. During the Revolution, in 1793, France deny the most solemn truth which man's soul receives, and renounce unanimously the belief and worship of a Deity."--Sir Walter Scott, Life of Napoleon, vol. 1, ch. 17. "France is the only nation in the world concerning which the authentic record survives, that as a nation she lifted her hand in open rebellion against the Author of the universe. Plenty of blasphemers, plenty of infidels, there have been, and still continue to be, in England, Germany, Spain, and elsewhere; but France stands apart in the world's history as the single state which, by the decree of her Legislative Assembly, pronounced that there was no God, and of which the entire population of the capital, and a vast majority elsewhere, women as well as men, danced and sang with joy in accepting the announcement."--Blackwood's Magazine, November, 1870.  {GC 269.4} 

"Where also our Lord was crucified." was also fulfilled by France. In no land had the spirit of enmity against Christ been more strikingly displayed. In no country had the truth encountered more bitter and cruel opposition. In the persecution which France had visited upon the confessors of the gospel, she had crucified Christ in the person of His disciples.  {GC 271.1}   

3.02.1.2.3.1.1.1 St. Bartholomew Massacre

But blackest in the black catalogue of crime, most horrible among the fiendish deeds of all the dreadful centuries, was the St. Bartholomew Massacre. ..The king of France, urged on by Romish priests and prelates, lent his sanction to the dreadful work. A bell, tolling at dead of night, was a signal for the slaughter. Protestants by thousands, sleeping quietly in their homes, trusting to the plighted honor of their king, were dragged forth without a warning and murdered in cold blood.  {GC 272.1}  …Throughout France the butchery continued for two months. Seventy thousand of the very flower of the nation perished.  {GC 272.2}

 3.1 Babylon’s Financial Meltdown, Part 1

This is Pastor Stephen Bohr’s presentation in three parts on Revelation 18. It is one of the lesser-studied chapters in the book of Revelation. It describes the collapse of the end-time Babylonian financial system and its aftermath. He is conducting a verse-by-verse study of the chapter exploring topics such as the relationship between chapters 17 and 18, the fall of Babylon, the latter rain, the Loud Cry, and the call to come out of Babylon.).

3.1.1 Satan’s  Counterfeit of God’s Final Message

The three angels’ messages of Rev 14:6-12 are proclaiming God’s final message of the end of the world to gather people from every nations, on the Lords side as the only means of escape.

Obviously, this in not in the interest of Satan. Therefore, the evil angels in Rev 16:12 are gathering the kings of the earth and of the whole world for the final battle against the government of God. These  three counterfeit angels gather people from every nation on Satan’s side.

The three evil spirits use a trilogy of earthly powers to accomplish their purpose. They have earthly powers that they work through are the dragon, the beast, and the false prophet ( the beast that rose from the earth). The dragon represents Satan, but it’s Satan working through civil power’s of the world. Satan during the church of Smyrna, cast many God’s people into prison. Satan did it through Diocletian. The Bible tells us that the dragon stood next to the woman to devour the child ( Rev 12:4) as soon as the child was born. The beast from the sea, represents the Roman Catholic papacy.The third member of the trilogy is the false prophet or the beast that rises from the earth. This land beast represents apostate Protestantism. Rev 17 further amplifies the triple alliance. They are called by a different name, and called the kings of the earth (for dragon), the harlot ( sea beast) and the daughters of the harlot( false prophets). Babylon is the name of the woman ( Papacy) who sits on the river Euphrates, has daughters who fornicate with the kings of the earth, representing sitting on multitudes nations tongues and people. So as long as the River Euphrates in Babylon are flowing the harlot has a hay day together with the daughters and the kings. But the sixth plagues says that the waters of the Euphrates and they are going to finish up with the harlot and the religious powers.

3.1.1 The Great Controversy Prophetic Discourse

Ellen White in “The Great Controversy” begins each of the later three chapters with a biblical passage. In the chapter of “The Final Warning” is cited Rev 18:1,2 &4. Describing the loud cry ( Rev 18:1-5) (pg 603) In the next chapter “Time of Trouble” p613,is Dan 12:1. The standing up of Michael means the close of probation. This signified Jesus beginning to rule His kingdom when His kingdom is made up. The investigative judgment shows up who is a member of His kingdom and everyone of His children has been sealed. “God’s People Delivered “ begins on  Pg 635-6 the careful interpretation of the 5th - 7th  plagues are described with using the quotations. The next chapter “The Desolation of the Earth” –Pg 653, is talking about the final and definite fall of Babylon, particularly the financial system of Babylon  ie. the seventh plague. (Rev 18:6-24. She begins by quoting Rev 18: 5-10, 11,3, 15-.17.

The aspects of the seventh plague is amplified in D34 par 2.1.3.2.Prelude of the Seventh Plague  taken from in the chapter “The Desolation of the Earth” at the same place where she began the chapter “ God’s People Delivered”. She began in both chapters by saying that God utters His voice to deliver His people. She is saying that after withdrawing their support they(wicked persecuters) will turn upon the religious leader to destroy them – “The people see that they have been deluded. They accuse one another of having led them to destruction; but all unite in heaping their bitterest condemnation upon the ministers. Unfaithful pastors have prophesied smooth things; they have led their hearers to make void the law of God and to persecute those who would keep it holy. Now, in their despair, these teachers confess before the world their work of deception. The multitudes are filled with fury. "We are lost!" they cry, "and you are the cause of our ruin;" and they turn upon the false shepherds. The very ones that once admired them most will pronounce the most dreadful curses upon them. The very hands that once crowned them with laurels will be raised for their destruction. The swords which were to slay God's people are now employed to destroy their enemies. Everywhere there is strife and bloodshed.  {GC 655.4}  ….

3.1.1.1 Financial Fall of Babylon (Rev 18)

Then most crucially is the prophetic description of the financial fall of Babylon as the entire chapter in Rev 18 deals with the entire meltdown of Babylonians financial system.

“The rich prided themselves upon their superiority to those who were less favored; but they had obtained their riches by violation of the law of God. They had neglected to feed the hungry, to clothe the naked, to deal justly, and to love mercy. They had sought to exalt themselves and to obtain the homage of their fellow creatures. Now they are stripped of all that made them great and are left destitute and defenseless. They look with terror upon the destruction of the idols which they preferred before their Maker. They have sold their souls for earthly riches and enjoyments, and have not sought to become rich toward God. The result is, their lives are a failure; their pleasures are now turned to gall, their treasures to corruption. The gain of a lifetime is swept away in a moment. The rich bemoan the destruction of their grand houses, the scattering of their gold and silver. But their lamentations are silenced by the fear that they themselves are to perish with their idols.  {GC 654.1} 

The central theme of vs 6-24 is the collapse of the world political and economic system that supported the harlot and her daughters. At that point the merchants will see that they are lost and that their riches are worthless. Moreover, they are infuriated primarily with the wicked religious leaders who have deceived them with a prosperity gospel. The multitudes of the wicked would realize that their religious leaders have deceived them and they will turn on them. The religious leaders encourage them to get rich and persecute those who keep the Sabbath ( See Eze 7:15-19; James 5:1-8)

This has something to say to us today considering the drastic movements of the stock market  similar to 2008  and a recession is impending the inevitable drain caused by the lockdown of Covid -19 and the medical cost of the vaccination and testing plus the trade sanction on Russia affecting prices of food and fuel worldwide. It is only by investing on God’s kingdom that we can make sure our resources are not devalued in the stock market or whatever. Ellen White foresaw that in the time of trouble many will then try to sell what they own  but they are noy going to be able to because people are not going to be able to buy and sell (foretaste in trade sanction on Russia.)  .

In Great Controversy the entire sequence of endtime events from the time of” the final warning” ( consider the C-19 crisis and the Ukraine war crisis as its precursor) to the second coming of Jesus Christ ( when the world ends in the seventh plague) and the loud, “The Time of Trouble”, “Deliverance of God’s People” ( from the seventh plague) in the next chapter) “ The Desolation of the Earth”  using Rev 18  to describe what is going to happen with those who accumulated riches,  The seven plagues is immediately before the second coming of Jesus who comes on a white horse with the armies of heaven ( Rev 19:11-21)

3.1.1.1.1 Composite Picture of Rev 16-19

At the end-time, the spirits of devils have totally possessed Babylon toward the close of probation and have gathered the whole world to war against Christ in the person of His witnesses. At the close of probation the waters of the spiritual Euphrates are at flood stage With each of the first four plagues, the anger of the waters increases and greater persecutions are levied on God’s people. However, at the moment of the fifth plague of darkness, the situation of God’s people turns and the wicked multitudes withdraw their support from the harlot in the sixth plague . In the seventh plagues, Babylon is divided into three parts and they fight against each other (Rev 16). 

Rev 17 is the amplification of the Harlot describing her heyday and the falling apart of the the threefold alliance.   

At the scene of Rev 18 is the meltdown of the financial system turning against the counterfeit religious powers and then the destruction of the wicked. Rev 18:6-24 describes the lamentation of the multitudes of the world when they see Babylon falls. The wicked see they have lost out on eternal life. God will utter His voice and deliver His people shortly before the second coming of Jesus. During this period the merchants and the kings of the earth will lament and wail over the fact their riches cannot save them in the day of God’s wrath.

Note: Rev 18:1-5 follow from Rev17:18 saying the woman is that great city which reigns over the kings of the earth (i.e. The harlot is interchangeable as the city  The harlot would emphasize the religious aspect of Babylon. A city is a civil organisation and represents the civil form of Babylon or the political systems of the world..) This event, the call to come out of Babylon and the loud cry, happens before Babylon is punished, during the period of probation i.e .in the final warning. Rev 18:6-8 states the retribution upon Babylon for her sins. Vs 9-10 are the lament of the kings of the earth and vs 11-16 are the lament of the capitalists; Vs 17-19 is the lament of the employees and the travelers of the great men of the earth.  V 20 is the rejoicing in heaven over Babylon’s fall. The drowning of the city and the cessation of all of her activities is in Vs 21-24. . 

In Babylon’s fall, Rev 19:1-10 tells of the song of joy in heaven because God has judged the harlot and avenged God’s people. (cf Jer 51:48-49). Coming from the East is Jesus, the rider on the white horse with the armies of heaven ( Rev 19: 11- 19) He comes to earth to rescue His people and to trample the winepress (covered in D 34)  The harlot and her gatherings are in the winepress.

3.1.1.1.2 Giving God’s Message with Urgency

In summary, God in His final loving act of His will that all to repent and be saved is calling out to the world in Rev18:1-5 to get out of spiritual Babylon so as to escape the eventual experience of sins and doom of Babylon described in Rev 17 and Rev 18:6-24.  Babylon had fed all her admirers with her wines of fornication (false  doctrines) and all nations are drunk and “the kings and merchants have become rich through the abundance of her luxury” The loud cry angel (Rev 18:4) refers to us whereas the Mighty angel that utters a loud cry in Rev 18:1 is God Himself saying “ Come out of her my people lest you receive her sins and her plagues” while probation is still open.

This is the urgent message that we must recognize in the current ongoing global crises that began in 2020.with the C-19 pandemic and in adding the Ukraine war in 2022.  

“Her sins have reached to heaven and God has remembered her iniquities” This means that God gives every nation, every city and every individual a period of probation .When that probation ends, is when God remembers because now the judgment is going to fall.            

The work of God’s people, those who choose to gather in the Lord’s side, begin in the second angel’s message  ( Rev 14: 8) This message was proclaimed by the Millerites leading up to 1844. God’s faithful left the Protestant churches and joined those who were proclaiming the judgment message. This second angel’s message will be proclaimed once more just before the close of probation. However, the message will be global in extension and will have far greater power than during the peroid  of the Millerites when the moral fall was not complete explains Ellen White. But at the end of time, Babylon will be totally demon possessed. At that time, the second angel’s message will be repeated. So in the loud cry, God’s faithful people will call God’s faithful followers in those churches feeding false doctrines ( and who did not understand the first angel’s message ( being associated to the second angel’s message) will now accept the first angel’s message and in that way they will not suffer the punishment of the beast, and the image of the beast and those who receive the mark of the beast.

“This scripture points forward to a time when the announcement of the fall of Babylon, as made by the second angel of Revelation 14 (verse 8), is to be repeated, with the additional mention of the corruptions which have been entering the various organizations that constitute Babylon, since that message was first given, in the summer of 1844. (Gay marriage, gay clergy, etc)  A terrible condition of the religious world is here described. With every rejection of truth the minds of the people will become darker, their hearts more stubborn, until they are entrenched in an infidel hardihood. In defiance of the warnings which God has given, they will continue to trample upon one of the precepts of the Decalogue, until they are led to persecute those who hold it sacred. Christ is set at nought in the contempt placed upon His word and His people. As the teachings of spiritualism are accepted by the churches, the restraint imposed upon the carnal heart is removed, and the profession of religion will become a cloak to conceal the basest iniquity. A belief in spiritual manifestations opens the door to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils, and thus the influence of evil angels will be felt in the churches.”  {GC 603.2}

This is why the urgent call must be given for people to get out of there before the judgment falls on the harlot (papacy)  and on the city.( the global political system  will implode . Before it implodes God will use His remnant people to call those who are sincere of heart and truly love the Lord to come out so that they don’t participate in Babylon’s sins and not receive Babylon’s plagues. This is the mission God has given the remnant church, the Seventh-day Adventist  (SDA) Church.    

3.2 Babylon’s Financial Meltdown, Part 2

The study is continuing with a very informative review to enhance our understanding Principally, it is the gathering of the entire world on one side or the other side. It focuses on the gathering for the final battle to end the great controversy. The three angels’ is gathering the people of the world on the Lord’s side to follow the Lamb. In opposition to this gathering are the three counterfeit angels, the evil spirits who gather the world  on the side of Satan.  According to Bible prophecy, most people are gathering on Satan’s side. But God will have a remnant church that will be faithful to Him and they will receive the latter rain. When they receive the latter rain and will be empowered to proclaim with power to call people out of Babylon to be on God’s side. And not to end up on the side of Satan.  This constitute the final warning ( Gc 603-612 ). In the time of trouble, the wicked are furious with God’s people who they blame for the first four plagues and they therefore persecutes God’s people whose lives are in jeopardy. But  in “God’s People Delivered” on pg 635 there was a supernatural darkness that falls upon the earth ( the 5th plague)- darkness fall fall upon the throne of the beast  hat rules the world. But the people of God are in the light They were shocked to suddenly wake up as they were about to extermination them in one foul swoop. They realized they are lost and their focus is turned on those who deceived them.

Euphrates is not a literal river. It is where the harlot Babylon sits upon multitudes symbolizing  a global system. The Voice of God saying It is done, a quotation of the 7th plague on pg 636 signifies God’s Intervention to deliver His remnant people  from the murderous wrath  of the wicked. In the second coming Jesus takesp several days to come from heaven. In pg.641, quoting Rev 19  she amplifies every point in precise chronological order.

“The Desolation of the Earth,”  pg 653, covers the event when the wicked discovered that they were deceived and are lost .

“When the voice of God turns the captivity of His people, there is a terrible awakening of those who have lost all in the great conflict of life. …”{GC 654.1} She connects it to Rev 18: :6-24. Which is an amplification of what happens under the seventh plague when the voice of God delivers His people. Babylon collapses , the religious system collapses , the financial system collapses, the polliticl systems collapse and Babylon falls apart ( Rev 16:19-says Babylon decides into three parts: the dragon ( the kings), the beast (papacy) and the false prophet ( the land beast or apostate protestantism)).They start fighting one another, the people turn against the religious leaders who have deceived them into thinking that Sunday is the day of worship and the law was nailed to the cross, and other kindred errors. 

3.2.1 Repetition and Intensification of Final Message   

The initial proclamation of the second angel’s message took place mainly in New England. (Rev 14:8) But what is going to take place in the future is going to be more powerful and is going to be global ( Rev 18:1-5). There is  the Intensification of the message in the repetition which is global as it is powerful being proclaimed by the mighty angel  to come out before the plague, immediately before the close of probation and God’s last message. Babylon is now the habitation of demons, kings and merchants. Sins piled up to heaven and her cup of iniquity is full, reaching the limit. The devil knows of God’s response with the greatest revival and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit without measure. The loud cry is the message and the latter rain gives the power to proclaim the message. The remnant that will proclaim this message to people with Jesus in their heart to get out of Babylon on a global scale. Satan knows and device a counterfeit revival. 

“Notwithstanding the spiritual darkness and alienation from God that exist in the churches which constitute Babylon, the great body of Christ's true followers are still to be found in their communion. There are many of these who have never seen the special truths for this time. (present truth- distinctive message of SDA as Secrets Unsealed- giving clearer light in SumTV and also other outlets like 3ABN, ) Not a few are dissatisfied with their present condition and are longing for clearer light. They look in vain for the image of Christ in the churches with which they are connected. As these bodies depart further and further from the truth, and ally themselves more closely with the world, the difference between the two classes will widen, and it will finally result in separation.( Many will leave SDA , but a big exodus into the SDAchurch who are unsatisfied with what they have now)  The time will come when those who love God supremely can no longer remain in connection with such as are "lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof."  {GC 390.1}

Revelation 18 points to the time when, as the result of rejecting the threefold warning of Revelation 14:6-12, the church will have fully reached the condition foretold by the second angel, and the people of God still in Babylon will be called upon to separate from her communion. This message is the last that will ever be given to the world; and it will accomplish its work. When those that "believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness" (2 Thessalonians 2:12), shall be left to receive strong delusion and to believe a lie, then the light of truth will shine upon all whose hearts are open to receive it, and all the children of the Lord that remain in Babylon will heed the call: "Come out of her, My people" (Revelation 18:4).  {GC 390.2} 

Notwithstanding the widespread declension of faith and piety, there are true followers of Christ in these churches. (God has multitudes in those churches Harlot representing Roman Catholic papacy and her daughters, the beast of the earth rep apostate protestantism)  referring to the churches as a system not the individual attending the churches)  God has in those churches individuals that serve God the best the best they know how with all of their heart and all their soul. God is going to reach those people ), Before the final visitation of God's judgments upon the earth there will be among the people of the Lord such a revival of primitive godliness as has not been witnessed since apostolic times. The Spirit and power of God will be poured out upon His children. At that time many will separate themselves from those churches in which the love of this world has supplanted love for God and His word. Many, both of ministers and people, will gladly accept those great truths which God has caused to be proclaimed at this time to prepare a people for the Lord's second coming. The enemy of souls desires to hinder this work; and before the time for such a movement shall come, he will endeavor to prevent it by introducing a counterfeit. In those churches which he can bring under his deceptive power he will make it appear that God's special blessing is poured out; there will be manifest what is thought to be great religious interest. Multitudes will exult that God is working marvelously for them, when the work is that of another spirit. Under a religious guise, Satan will seek to extend his influence over the Christian world.  {GC 464.1}

 During this time of counterfeit revival, Ellen White indicates that literal fire will be sent from heaven among these churches to try and prove that their message come from God as happened on the day of Pentecost. Satan will exercise his power by working miracles. God's servants today could not work by means of miracles, because spurious works of healing, claiming to be divine, will be wrought.  {2SM 54.2}  Satan, surrounded by evil angels, and claiming to be God, will work miracles of all kinds to deceive, if possible, the very elect. God's people will not find their safety in working miracles, for Satan would counterfeit any miracle that might be worked. God's tried and tested people will find their power in the sign spoken of in Exodus 31:12-18. They are to take their stand on the living Word--"It is written." This is the only foundation upon which they can stand securely. Those who have broken their covenant with God will in that day be without hope and without God in the world.  {2SM 54.5}

Satan will work through his agents who have departed from the faith to bring fire down from heaven in the sight of men. Here is the life example in the Pentecostal evangelist Benny Hinn charismatic evangelist, ( 26:37)

3.2.1.1 Modern Day False Prophet- Hinn

On Nov 13, 2001,  Hinn explain about his conversion experience to Paul Crouch, TBN  Hi is a Palestinian before his conversion  has visions and  dreams of himself preaching in stadiums before thousands of people. Then he said in the last 12 months I have been having some new visions and  dreams some amazing dreams. I have been seeing fires. I have seem myself in stadiums where literal fire was falling from heaven . The glory of God was about to be revealed visibly. Then he referred to the tongues of fire on the day of Pentacost as proof. Then he referred to the tongues of fire descending on the sacrifices of Elijah on mount Carmel and he referred to the pillar of fire that guided Israel in their treks through the wilderness. Most people would be deceived by this. It is important to know what the Bible say and if the Bible contradicts our eyes our ears our feeling and what others say so be it. We follow Sola Scriptura, scripture alone. Sadly in our own church there are several practices that are based on culture, on tradition that don’t find their foundation on the word of God. ( Isa 8:20) The law is the writings of Moses and the testimony would be of the prophets up to that time.)

Do Benny Hinn teachings square with the Bible? He claims to speak regularly with the spirit of Katherine Kuhlman at her grave at Forest Lawn cemetery in  Glendale , California. He also stated that he gathers power from the mausoleum of Annie McPherson, a charismatic. He has also gone on record saying that Sunday is the day of the Lord that we are supposed to keep. How do we test his magic like everyone falls over like they are dead when he stretches out his and say whoosh? We need to compare what he (any evangelist) says with scripture, not what devised magic he does.

3.2.2 The Loud Cry (Rev 18:1)

The angel in Rev 18:1 descends from heaven with power (exousia = authority) with great (mega) authority announcing the loud cry and is distinct from the second angel who represents God’s loyal children giving the message. 

In the period of greatest darkness in history will be revealed the greatest light. The light is the truth about God’s glorious character of love as revealed in His law.   Thus the three angels’ messages are to be combined giving their threefold light to the world. In the revelation John says, “I saw an angel having great power and the earth was lightened with His glory” (Rev 18:1). This represents the giving of the last and threefold message of warning to the world with great power in this loud cry message. The first message is an issue at the end of time with God’s people going to proclaim that the churches are fallen. They are going to show people that the law of God is still binding and we are to worship the creator by observing His holy Sabbath. The people need to know that God is in the process of judging those who are alive on earth. They must realize that the majority of the churches are counterfeits practicing spiritualistic manifestations, that the dead know everything; that hell burns forever; that the law is nailed to the cross and that you don’t have to keep the Sabbath.

When they see the first angel’s message they will know that they are in the wrong place and the second angel’s message is to get out  Then the third angel’s message says if you don’t get out and if you worship the beast and his image and receive the mark , the plagues are going to afflict you and you will be lost. This is the distinct message that the SDA church is proclaiming to the world as their primary mission.  There is no other church doing this work . With all its flaws and all its internal conflicts, God through the shaking is taking measures into His own hands and this prophecy of Rev18 will soon be fulfilled during the proclamation of the third angel’s message, with or without us.(by our choice) . The last rays of merciful light, the last message of mercy to be given to the world is a revelation of His character of love. .

How do we fittingly reflect the character of God, God’s glory? (The glory of this angel from heaven is a revelation of the glory of God.}

“By beholding Christ, by talking of Him, by beholding the loveliness of His character we become changed. Changed from glory to glory. And what is glory? Character,--and we becomes changed from character to character. Thus we see that there is a work of purification that goes on by beholding Jesus “{SD 337.5}

We receive the glory and then project it. Jesus said “ I am the light of the world” but He also said you are the light of the world ( Mat 5:13) This is explained  in the analogy that the Sun projects the light received by the moon to reflect it to earth. Jesus, the son of righteousness shines on us who are like the moon reflects His glory to others.

3.2.3 God’s Co-workers Proclaiming the Loud Cry

The loud cry message states: Babylon has become a dwelling place of demons. A prison for every foul spirit, a cage for every unclean and hated bird -the twofold repetition that Babylon has fallen These expressions denote a crescendo in the Hebrew way of thinking, synonymous parallelism . It underlines the fact that just before the close of probation Babylon will be fallen morally and will be beyond repair She is totally possessed by evil forces.  

There will be a universal bond of union, one great harmony, a confederacy of Satan's forces. "And shall give their power and strength unto the beast." 3SM 392 . This is the same thing mentioned in Rev16:13 that they are presenting the message of the evil spirits. The hateful birds are birds of prey. Rev 19:17 uses the same Greek word to refer to the fowls of the air. These birds are scavengers (religious leaders) that prey upon those whom Babylon deceives ( their church members). The word cage is translated prison

After the truth has been proclaimed as a witness to all nations, at a time when every conceivable power of evil is set in operation, when minds are confused by the many voices crying, "Lo, here is Christ," "Lo, He is there," "This is truth," "I have a message from God," "He has sent me with great light," and there is a removing of the landmarks, and an attempt to tear down the pillars of our faith--then a more decided effort is made to exalt the false sabbath, and to cast contempt upon God Himself by supplanting the day He has blessed and sanctified.  {3SM 406.2} This false sabbath is to be enforced by an oppressive law. Satan and his angels are wide awake and intensely active, working with energy and perseverance through human instrumentalities to bring about his purpose of obliterating the knowledge of God. While Satan is working with his lying wonders, the time has come [that was] foretold in the Revelation, when the mighty angel that shall lighten the earth with his glory will proclaim the fall of Babylon and call upon God's people to forsake her. . . .  {3SM 406.3}

This is the message that God has given to the SDA church who is the only church to proclaim this message. What are the people going to be like who will be proclaiming this message?

As the time comes for it to be given with greatest power, the Lord will work through humble instruments, leading the minds of those who consecrate themselves to His service. The laborers will be qualified rather by the unction of His Spirit than by the training of literary institutions. Men of faith and prayer will be constrained to go forth with holy zeal, declaring the words which God gives them. The sins of Babylon will be laid open. The fearful results of enforcing the observances of the church by civil authority, the inroads of spiritualism, the stealthy but rapid progress of the papal power--all will be unmasked. By these solemn warnings the people will be stirred. Thousands upon thousands will listen who have never heard words like these. In amazement they hear the testimony that Babylon is the church, fallen because of her errors and sins, because of her rejection of the truth sent to her from heaven. As the people go to their former teachers with the eager inquiry, Are these things so? the ministers present fables, prophesy smooth things, to soothe their fears and quiet the awakened conscience. But since many refuse to be satisfied with the mere authority of men and demand a plain "Thus saith the Lord," the popular ministry, like the Pharisees of old, filled with anger as their authority is questioned, will denounce the message as of Satan and stir up the sin-loving multitudes to revile and persecute those who proclaim it.  {GC 606.2}

3.3 Babylon’s Financial Meltdown, Part 3

The Merchants are those who controls the businesses dealings in the world (18:3, linked with Rev 13, 15).  Many need to be called out. The land beast is going to forbid buying and selling (trial run in C-19 and trade sanction on Russia invasion on Ukraine) and this entity will control international commerce.

The power (dunamis = luxury (V.4) of Babylon resides in her economic clout. When she falls she will lose her power and unable to sell her merchandice. It is God taking action declaring Babylon is fallen (Rev 18:4) as there are many true followers of Jesus that are in the system  that are true followers and they must be called out before the collapse of Babylon. They are in Babylon but not of Babylon. (This is now addressed to our present generation and starting the message of the C-19 Crisis and the Ukraine war crisis since 2020.) .This is Jesus calling “ Come out of her My people so that you do not receive of her plagues.”   

“Babylon (papacy- the teaching of Roman Catholic doctrines)) is said to be "the mother of harlots." By her daughters (Protestants who share in some of Catholic* doctrines) must be symbolized churches that cling to her doctrines and traditions, and follow her example of sacrificing the truth and the approval of God, in order to form an unlawful alliance with the world.  The message of Revelation 14, announcing the fall of Babylon must apply to religious bodies that were once pure and have become corrupt. Since this message follows the warning of the judgment, it must be given in the last days; therefore it cannot refer to the Roman Church alone, for that church has been in a fallen condition for many centuries. Furthermore, in the eighteenth chapter of the Revelation the people of God are called upon to come out of Babylon. According to this scripture, many of God's people must still be in Babylon. And in what religious bodies are the greater part of the followers of Christ now to be found? Without doubt, in the various churches professing the Protestant faith. At the time of their rise these churches took a noble stand for God and the truth, and His blessing was with them. Even the unbelieving world was constrained to acknowledge the beneficent results that followed an acceptance of the principles of the gospel. In the words of the prophet to Israel: "Thy renown went forth among the heathen for thy beauty: for it was perfect through My comeliness, which I had put upon thee, saith the Lord God." But they fell by the same desire which was the curse and ruin of Israel--the desire of imitating the practices and courting the friendship of the ungodly. "Thou didst trust in thine own beauty, and playedst the harlot because of thy renown." ( parallel verses  in Isa 48:20; Jer 50:8, 51:6,45 Ezekiel 16:14, 15.  {GC 382.3} ( Note:*The traditional teaching of the mother- keeping Sunday instead of Sabbath; the soul goes to heaven on death; Hell burns forever;  law was nailed to the cross; eat anything of desire, etc) )

They were called to come out to go to Jerusalem. This will happen in a spiritual sense at the end of time. God has a global spiritual Israel where there are many true spiritual Israelites who are to come to spiritual Jerusalem. This is similar to the event in the past for Israel.

“No longer have the hosts of evil power to keep the church captive; for "Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city," which hath "made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication;" and to spiritual Israel is given the message, "Come out of her, My people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues." Verse 8; 18:4. As the captive exiles heeded the message, "Flee out of the midst of Babylon" (Jeremiah 51:6), and were restored to the Land of Promise, so those who fear God today are heeding the message to withdraw from spiritual Babylon, and soon they are to stand as trophies of divine grace in the earth made new, the heavenly Canaan.  {PK 715.1}

3.3.1 The Ultimate Punishment- God Remembers

The list of sins that the people must flee from is outlined in Rev 18:5 . Principally they are  1. Self worship and separate from God; 2 Crass materialism in luxury and pleasure; 3. Gives the wine of false doctrine to the nations; 4; Fornication which is spiritual joining of church and state; 5. Persecutes God’s people; and 6. Delving into the occult, in pactising the art of deception through sorcery or spiritualism.

The judgment for these sins is everyone in Babylon will suffer the wrath of God in the seven last plagues ( Rev 16)

God has been aware of these sins all along the way and the sins have been accumulating. The divine ledger has been adding up. Hence the sins have reached the limit that God has established, God will “remember”- meaning He is going to execute punishment because the cup of iniquity is full and overflowing. God delays ultimate punishment because He desires that all to repent and be saved, (2 Pe 3:9).

3.3.1.1 Sodom and Gomorrah

“The destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah was on account of their great wickedness. They gave loose rein to their intemperate appetites, then to their corrupt passions, until they were so debased, and their sins were so abominable, that their cup of iniquity was full, and they were consumed with fire from heaven.”  {CD 60.2}

(God knew the conditions of Sodom and Gomorrah throughout its history and acted when the limit is reached)

With unerring accuracy the Infinite One still keeps account with the nations. While His mercy is tendered, with calls to repentance, this account remains open; but when the figures reach a certain amount which God has fixed, the ministry of His wrath begins. The account is closed. Divine patience ceases. Mercy no longer pleads in their behalf.  {PK 364.1}

3.3.1.2 Judgment on Fourth Generation Amorites

Of the Amorites the Lord said: "In the fourth generation they shall come hither again: for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet full." Although this nation was conspicuous because of its idolatry and corruption, it had not yet filled up the cup of its iniquity, and God would not give command for its utter destruction. The people were to see the divine power manifested in a marked manner, that they might be left without excuse. The compassionate Creator was willing to bear with their iniquity until the fourth generation. Then, if no change was seen for the better, His judgments were to fall upon them.  {5T 208.1} 

3.3.1.3 Spiritual Israel - Professed Christian World

God also remembers His remnant people. As His people, as His faithful children are suffering to the utmost in the time of trouble, God’s eyes are upon them but their faith must pass the test and their characters must be fixed for eternity before God will remember His covenant with them. So it will appear like God has forgotten His people during the time of trouble but the time will come for their deliverance and God will remember His covenant.

3.3.2 Babylon’s Reward (Rev 18:6-8)

‘She will be utterly burned with fire for strong is the Lord God who judges her”

"Fallen angels upon earth form confederations with evil men. In this age antichrist will appear as the true Christ, and then the law of God will be fully made void in the nations of our world. Rebellion against God's holy law will be fully ripe. ( It is still not fullu ripe as Sunday law is not enforced yet) But the true leader of all this rebellion is Satan clothed as an angel of light. Men will be deceived and will exalt him to the place of God, and deify him. But Omnipotence will interpose, and to the apostate churches that unite in the exaltation of Satan, the sentence will go forth, 'Therefore shall her plagues come in one day, death, and mourning, and famine; and she shall be utterly burned with fire: for strong is the Lord God who judgeth her.'"  {TM 62.1}  Isa 47:8  Therefore hear now this, thou that art given to pleasures, that dwellest carelessly, that sayest in thine heart, I am, and none else beside me; I shall not sit as a widow, neither shall I know the loss of children: (The harlot is saying the kings are always going to be my lovers and I will always have my children) Isa 47:9  But these two things shall come to thee in a moment in one day, the loss of children, and widowhood: they shall come upon thee in their perfection for the multitude of thy sorceries, and for the great abundance of thine enchantments. (Revel 17:16 says the kings of the earth will hate her and they will make her desolate and naked. They will eat her flesh and burn her with fire as they are really mad at her.

This is the description of the moment in which the supporters of Babylon will turn against her:

“The people see that they have been deluded. They accuse one another of having led them to destruction; but all unite in heaping their bitterest condemnation upon the ministers. Unfaithful pastors have prophesied smooth things; they have led their hearers to make void the law of God and to persecute those who would keep it holy. Now, in their despair, these teachers confess before the world their work of deception. The multitudes are filled with fury. "We are lost!" they cry, "and you are the cause of our ruin;" and they turn upon the false shepherds. The very ones that once admired them most will pronounce the most dreadful curses upon them. The very hands that once crowned them with laurels will be raised for their destruction. The swords which were to slay God's people are now employed to destroy their enemies. Everywhere there is strife and bloodshed. “ {GC 655.4}

3.3.3 Execution of the Sentence

Chap 17 deals primarily with the sentence against Babylon. Chap 18 is concerned with the execution of that sentence.

The message to us is to know someday that nothing we have is going to have any value if we are faithful to God. The day will come when even the unfaithful to God will lose everything. Jesus has said What does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and material prosperity and loses his own soul.

The laments of the respective classes of Babylonian supporters are as follows:

3.3.3.1 Laments of the Main Supporters (Rev 18:9-10; The Kings ; 18;11-16 Capitalists ( the great men, leaders of corporations, leaders of Stock market. .

The verses describe a reaction of the merchants of the earth when Babylon falls apart. The capitalist and rich men accumulated the wealth of the world at the expense of the poor and needy. The wicked do not lament that they sinned. Their entire lamentation in the chapter is that they have lost their riches. Babylon will no longer benefit them and they have lost eternal life.  Time and again we are told that the wicked did not not repent ( Rev 16:14)

“The rich bemoan the destruction of their grand houses, the scattering of their gold and silver. But their lamentations are silenced by the fear that they themselves are to perish with their idols.”  {GC 654.1}  The wicked are filled with regret, not because of their sinful neglect of God and their fellow men, but because God has conquered. They lament that the result is what it is; but they do not repent of their wickedness. They would leave no means untried to conquer if they could.  {GC 654.2}. (Rev 19 describes Babylon will be separated into three parts Harlot, daughters and kings)

Several different Greek words describe the extreme anguish of the wicked. ‘clyo” translated “be well” “pentos – to moan; “kapto”- to lament. “krazo”- to cry. Phrases indicating extreme affliction to tell that the wicked are sprinkling dust upon their heads.

3.3.3.1.1 Fall of Trading World Economy and Luxuries

The list of merchandise consist of necessities (staples) like wine and oil., commodities and luxuries and included most of the traded item in the ancient world. It represents total control of the world economy and living in luxury as a result. They were common in the days of John which in today’s term are their iphones, computers TV, stocks and bonds and their money in the bank etc.  The Bible says that God keep, the records of our lives in books, the manner in which records were kept in books in biblical time. Similarly Ellen White says our lives are being daguerreotyped (photographed)in the heavenly books. This would be computerizing in our time to describe the sophisticated way of retrieving records than we know. We are told that after the millennium God is going to show above the new city in panoramic view the entire 6000 years of history of the world. She describes this scene from the vision in such great details mentioning names like Nero and Caiaphas and the wicked acts they performed in history,   

Babylon trafficked in the bodies (physical life) of souls (spiritual aspect of future life in the kingdom) of men. Jesus said do not fear those who are able to kill the body ( i.e take your present physical life) but cannot kill the soul.( cannot take away your eternal life). He said we are to fear him who are able to destroy both body and soul. The soul is destroyable because the soul that sinned shall die. In Revelation the soul is used to describe those who are killed for refusing to practice false worship of Babylon. There are souls under the altar in heaven crying out to God for justice (Rev 6:9,10 ) symbolizing their blood is crying out for justice because their physical life has been taken away. But God said to rest for a while for your robes are secure until te rest of the martyrs are completed when He shall resurrects all of you together to get your reward.( Rev 6:10)

3.3.3.2 Lament of the Employee & Travelers (Rev 18:17-19) .  

The picture that are described ending with the employees and the travelers (Rev 18:17-19) is to make people understand what must eventuate with the fall of Babylon. It would be easier for them to respond to the call to come out of Babylon knowing in advance the ultimate consequences of those who chooses the riches of this present period primary and sell out their eternal life .

3.3.4 Celebration in Heaven (Rev 18:20)

All heaven is watching what is happening on this earth where Rev 18:20 reveals the scene in heaven of a celebration when Babylon collapses. Now is the time for the apostles and prophets to cry out for joy as they will be receiving their rewards. Rev 19:1,2 explains “the harlot who corrupted the earth with her fornication is judged. God has avenged on her the blood of His servants shed by her.”This will be the song sung in heaven by the multitudes, everyone whose names is found in the books.

3.3.5. Cessation of City Life (Rev 18:21-24)

The final commentary (Rev 18:21-24) is centered on the cessation of city life., Everything relating to city life is going to come to an end when Babylon comes crashing down, the inevitable prophesied end of the world. The great millstone, symbolizing  Babylon (Jer 51:63-64) which is thrown in the sea (multitudes, tongues and peoples) and drowned.  All the activities that characterizes Babylon will cease. Babylon deceives the nations by her sorcery ( pharmacaya= pharmacy= drugs) The use of this word in bible passage  denotes the use of magic  often involving drugs and casting spells upon people. Consumers are not able to think straight) The punishment that Gog promises to pour out on Babylon (Isa 47: 9) is the loss of children  and widowhood  The kings will come on her in their fullness because of the multitude of her sorceries and enchantments. The great sin of Babylon is that it persecuted God’s people and shed their blood,

3.3.5.1 Urgency in Responding to God’s Final Call

Rev 18 helps us to understand the urgency of why God calls His people out of Babylon. He doesn’t want His people to participate in the sins of Babylon so that the seven last plagues will not fall on them. This is the message of love not indifference or retribution. Everything in the world is going to collapse. However, only if we have invested in God’s kingdom we will have eternal riches and inherit all things. Let not hoard what we have. Be content with having shelter and food and just depend on the Lord for our sustenance. ( Mat 16:33)

This is the hope in Christ- faith in His righteousness to save us in the impending inevitable destruction of the world.  

3.4  Eternal Things to Ponder

Bible prophecy tells us the limit of God’s tolerance will be reached when Sunday Law is enforced.

Looking at the endtime events at the rate the world is moving now will we reach 2030 without a Sunday Law being enforced?

Things are moving quite fast that It could be even in 2025. From biblical standpoint, Paul says God will cut short His work of righteousness ( Rom 9:28) The final movements will be very rapid.  God predicts the mighty outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the Pentecost in the early rain received by early disciple ( Acts 1:8 ) This will be repeated for the latter rain in the final harvest  when the earth will be filled with the glory of God ( Rev 18:1) . “For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.” Hab 2:14  “And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.” Mat 24:14  So God is not waiting for something for something on the calendar or more famines, fires and floods and not even waiting for the national Sunday law. He is waiting for the spiritual revival of the spiritual law among His people with the Holy Spirit  poured out upon them. The earth is lightened with the glory of God. The Gospel goes to the ends of the earth and that events hastens the crisis that takes place . That event allows the angels to let the winds of strife go who are doing until the servants of God are sealed in their forehead ( Rev 7:1-2)

So what is God waiting for? The proclamation of the Gospel to the ends of the world by a people that love Him, that give glory to His name and the people who are committed to Him. Then He will let these winds of strife blow. The national Sunday law will be ushered in very, very rapidly. If C-19 and the Ukraine War has taught us anything the world can change almost overnight.
